Alexander’s Memories Flashback

Collection of photos and stories that never made into the headlines.

Welcome to Alexander’s Memories Flashback 26th edition.

Side by side with Reva electronic car at the InventQjaya building, 2005. InventQjaya closed down in mid 2006 and never had a chance to bounce back. It was a tragic business, sad politics. Nevertheless, the people was the best and absolutely the one that I cherish most.

Flashback even further, Lake Garden 1982.. I always feel that I am lost in this 21st century. Honestly, I would prefer the 1980’s life where everything is leisure and less hectic. Moreover, Less traffic, less materialistic and less inflation. Life would be so much fun.

And of course, I would like to own an De Lorean DMC-12 too.

Amazing Race is definitaly of my favorite show ever. In 2006, I had the opportunity to travel to California, (Santa Rosa, to be precise). I had to travel alone. Imagine this; I never been to the States, never been on a long haul flight, never drive on the right side of the road… and the list goes on…,

But what I’ve learnt from the Amazing Race, did gave me the courage to explore the places. Life is just like a reality show, it sucks big time, cameras are all over you, God is unfair to you, and you worry most of the time about the little things. However, you just gotta have the courage to do everything, embrace every roadblocks, finish every detour and keep going and you shall never have regrets.

And things didn’t went smooth for me as well; I got lost most of the time in the city (sometimes GPS also lagg, you know?), I also almost got into car accident when driving in San Francisco (it was night time, I just started driving less than 30 minutes and I drove to the wrong side of the traffic, whollaa), and I got stopped by the patrol car when I was travelling to the 101 south (”There ain’t any drug in my car, Officer, I swear to God!”)

Despite all the troubles, I’m glad that I didn’t skip any of the opportunity to explore. It turned out to be my most memorable life experience.

Golden Gate Bridge, 2006

Bako National Park, May 2007.

Since I was kid, I’ve done a lot of hiking without I’m actually knowing it. I know its lame, but when I think again, Hey, I never really wanted to go hiking, but I just ended up going into jungle anyway. Its kinda like invisible bond I have with Mother Nature.

- Gunung Gading National Park (wonderful waterfall, seven of it, total of 5 hour hiking)

- Fairy Cave, Sarawak (eerie, dark, smelly cave)

- Sg. Pisang (located at Ulu Gombak, hiking thru wild jungle, use the storm water tunnel as a shortcut (total darkness, couldn’t even see my own feet), encountered a wild boar, ran out water, managed to came out alive)

- At the back of my school (hiked to the hill, followed the upstream untill couldn’t see any water at the creek, tiring experience - stupid teacher who suggested this expedition)

- Gunung Ledang (located near Tangkak, camped for 2 nights, beautiful waterfall, hiked to of its peak, dehydrated most of the time)

- Bako National Park (one of the best hiking experience, it rained thru the whole journey)

- Waterfall at Bukit Melawati (located behind the National Zoo, an orang asli brought us there for RM 50 perperson, to shot the waterfall for photography assignment)

Telok Pandan, Bako National Park, May 2007

Avenue of the Giants, Redwood National Park, California 2006

Tryin’ to catch some fish.

Redang Marine Park, 2005

One of my favourite gateway besides Malacca, is the Malaysia east coast islands, especially Pulau Redang. It is one of best spot for swimming, snokerling and diving. I always wanted to learn diving, but never had a chance. I know it would be fun going underwater and snapping great photos of the colorful coral and marine life. Hey Nemo!

Tryin to auction myself at the eBay HQ.

I want to be a Jedi too!

There are reasons why I seldom publish my own photos here.
